Soul Honey Records "Ghosts in the Attic"

Soul Honey Records have released the lead single, "Ghosts in the Attic", from their forthcoming EP "Soul Honey Family Barbeque" which is due out June 19th. This is the long evolving project centered around songs written by Andrew Christopoulos. The three songs on the EP were written by Andrew while in High School, but have grown and changed as he has collaborated with over 20 local artists over the last few years.

The EP features musicians from Pivot Gang, iFight Dragons, Retirement Party, Friday Pilots Club, Late Nite Laundry, Strange Foliage, Blue Dream, Bullfights on Acid, Sir Mango, ZooFunkYou, Othersides, The Violet Suns, and more. This would make you think it is wild and huge, but the resulting sound is beautiful, intimate, and dynamic.

Dogs on Shady Lane reflects on sweet and sour notes in new single "18"

Something dreamy, something sad—that is the glow that radiates from “18,” the new indie-folk single from Providence’s Dogs on Shady Lane. The acoustic guitar strums that softly thread about during the track begin to brighten as dreamy electric guitar accents pile up, and the reverbed vocals of project leader Tori Hall gently reflect on life and its sweet and sour melodies. Refrains such as “thick as brick but stick stone, hurt/me less than silence and warn/but burning hands mend me like wool, so feel me up/I’m too old to be crying so much” hint at strength and vulnerability, at the physical and its memory. The new track by Dogs on Shady Lane has in it all the charm of the indie-folk genre: escapist sounds you can drift away to and lyrics that ground you to a reality you help to shape; if you need a moment away from your busy Monday, we have it for you streaming below. - Rene Cobar, photo by Kannetha Brown

A Deli Premiere: "Back in The Woods" (feat. Tyre$$e X, Genuine & Jdot) by Big Finny

Diversity above all else, production and delivery excellent—that is the motto of Salem, Massachusetts’ Big Finny, and it shows in his new collaborative single “Back in The Woods.” The new 3LTHEGOD x Ran-produced song has Finny’s addictive brand of melody stamped on it, accompanied by a flow for flow performance with Boston area rappers Tyre$$e X, Genuine and Jdot. Arpeggiating piano notes chart the path for each of the artists to tactically deploy their pressing thoughts, stinging and reminding the listener, in rhythm, that New England can be a hot spot for the genre too. Genuine’s Spanish verse adds to the trap beat a hint of reggaeton’s hot commodities; each rapper takes its time on the mic, heating up and transferring that energy to the next performer with fierce intent. “Back in The Woods” is a power move and paid tribute to the New England rap community, performed by a group of young artists on the rise; we are thrilled to premiere “Back in The Woods” below for you. - Rene Cobar
