Magnolia Loft prepares to shut down, releases "Magnolia Songs Mixtape"

Three years since it’s creation, Magnolia Loft has created a reputation for being one of Boston’s top tier DIY venues. Located on the third floor of a Jamaica Plain apartment building, Magnolia Loft has provided a space for local artists and musicians to hold interactive exhibits and performances for community participants. Sadly, the staple underground venue, run and programmed by tenant Audrey Harrar, has been forced to vacate the property to make way for building development. To commemorate the venue’s legacy, Harrar has compiled a fifty-two song mixtape, titled Magnolia Songs Mixtape, compiled of artists who have performed at the space, including acts like Sidney Gish, BAERD, Izzy Heltai, and I Can Chase Dragons. Deli NYC Premiere: Alexia Bomtempo's video for "I Thought About You"

In 2016, we named Alexia Bomtempo one of NYC's top emerging artists. Late last year, Bomtempo released her third studio album, called Chasing Storms and Stars, and we are happy to premiere the first music video for the track "I Thought About You". The stripped-down song features Alexia's frank vocal delivery and Brazilian-inspired beats fused with American soul. In the video, Bomtempo's fluxing expressions -- some projected over her blank face, some shown raw -- convey the power behind her simple but beautiful music and lyrics. And to add more emphasis to the simplicity of the whole package, the video makes expert use of black and white. See it for yourself -- and take a listen to "I Thought About You" -- below. Alexia Bontempo will perform live at The 55 Bar on February 13. - Will Sisskind
