The Whips
New Track: "I Wanna Love You (All the Time)" - The Whips

The Whips recently dropped a new single, “I Wanna Love You (All the Time)”. A rumbling, rhythm & riff combo kickstarts the track, as an admission of affection is confessed in sweaty, garage-rock glory. The raunchy, for-all-seasons, in-all-conditions adoration is expressed, punctuated by a slick guitar solo. You can catch The Whips this coming Monday, April 8 at Ortlieb's, where they'll be opening for Tommy And The Commies as well as France's Les Lullies.
Weekend Warrior, September 28 - 30

When local artists and businesses throughout a music scene unite as a community in celebration and support of each other, good things are the result. Philly Music Fest serves as an opportune event. What began yesterday at Johnny Brenda’s with Pissed Jeans and Soul Glo continues for the next two days at World Cafe Live. Tonight, the elegant hypnotically galvanizing pop of Vita and the Woolf, the endless boogie of Low Cut Connie, the raw and ragged, sweat-saturated, surf-infused, garage rock of The Whips, and the earnest, scene-transporting, songwriting force of Waxahatchee are among those that shape its sonic surroundings. And tomorrow, Palm cultivates an experimental push-pull, hovering between tranquil waves and frenetic, unconventional changes in direction. The melodic, eruptive, dynamic swings of The Districts, the tenacious, cosmic-rocking, riff-combusting charge of Ruby the Hatchet, and the soothing, introspective vulnerability of powerpop trio Hurry are also slated for Saturday. Come take part in this locals only weekend! – Michael Colavita

New The Whips LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

A plethora of shot & beer pairings continuously flow especially in celebration of the Eagles ascension to the top of the NFL mountain. While you’re sipping in celebration, another City Wide Special recently became available. The Whips' new album exhibits that sweaty, dirt-under-the-fingernails, riff-riding infectiousness that we’ve grown to expect. Stewing in time-traveling retro-rock, these songs feel like they were always there. Yopu can catch them at Ortlieb’s on Tuesday, February 13, where they'll be supported by Madalean Gauze and The Othermen.
Weekend Warrior, September 8 - 10

Toward the tail end of last month, Oh Sees released their new album Orc (Castle Face Records). Stretching into a spacey psych-garage paradigm, the band shreds through the ether, while casting strange scenarios of odd artistic visions, projecting an idiosyncratic ideal. Tonight, they’ll be supported at The Troc by the down and dirty pairing of garage-rock locals The Whips and The Tough Shits. The Whips’ slithering, slack/surf-inflected songs instantly catch one on an enthusiastic hook-driven, groove-shaking journey. Add the instantly enthusiastic, get-down energy of The Whips, and let the weekend wind down commence. – Michael Colavita

New Track: "Hot Tone" - The Whips

The Whips tear it up with impassioned guitarwork on their latest single, "Hot Tone" (which was probably what was uttered when they finished the initial jam). The track is set to appear on an exclusive tape compilation in August via Suicide Bong Tapes. You can catch The Whips tomorrow night at Kung Fu Necktie opening for Night Beats and The Mystery Lights.
