The marching bass guitar and drum pattern driving Ula Ruth’s lead track “Misery” from their latest EP “Fever” shares a bond with The Pretenders' “Mystery Achievement,”  reaching that delicate balance between media friendly sound quality and the edginess found in the best rock songs. A big defined hooky chorus reveals an existential dread with the lyrics “Misery you always follow me. Every open door I see your face.” After spending the better part of a year working on their latest effort at Tarquin Studios (Interpol, The National, Local Natives), the band emerged today with their third EP 'Fever', which was released on May 24th through a performance at Rough Trade. Connecticut/NYC-based Ula Ruth have the makings of a classic Heartland brand of rock n' roll, equally parts comforting and always in style, like that old pair of jeans you just pulled out of your closet to wear again this Spring. Merging alt-country with a penchant for large rock anthems, the quartet has just released their sophomore record 'Restless Nights,' revealing a larger sound to jump around to on stage (and plenty of room for frontman Nicholas James to stretch his pipes), while still keeping things rough around the edges.

Hear it here first: Connecticut-based Ula Ruth has just released the track “Shake It Off” in advance of its upcoming EP Restless Nights, set for release on January 14. The EP has already delighted critics at the Celebrity Café and Rust Magazine, and “Shake It Off” doesn’t disappoint.
