Women That Rock is hosting its first-annual Halloween concert event Tuesday October 30th at beloved NY venue Brooklyn Bazaar, 150. This festival-style evening showcase will feature performances by six amazing femme-fronted artists, including Mrs. Smith, Ruby The Hatchet, Fern Mayo, MONTE, Clever Girls and The Values. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

In addition to the incredible artist lineup, guests will enjoy live Halloween tattoos, tarot readings, a Women That Rock Halloween photo booth experience and more spooky surprises! The evening will be MC’ed by popular Brooklyn-based artist Mima Good disguised as a surprise Halloween alter-ego. The event is being sponsored by Austin Eastciders, Fender & Guitar Center.

Women That Rock is a community of music curators and tastemakers dedicated to promoting and supporting the best up-and-coming women and gender-nonconforming artists. In addition to daily artist profiles and regular articles and promotion on their website, Women That Rock hosts 1-3 events a month in New York City, including a special NYC PRIDE event at Coney Island Baby in collaboration with Jess Jouise Dye (lead singer of popular Brooklyn band High Waisted), and a special summer showcase at Brooklyn Bazaar featuring GYMSHORTS, Sharkmuffin, MONTE, Lady Bits & Sister Munch, just to name a few of their previous events.

When local artists and businesses throughout a music scene unite as a community in celebration and support of each other, good things are the result. Philly Music Fest serves as an opportune event. What began yesterday at Johnny Brenda’s with Pissed Jeans and Soul Glo continues for the next two days at World Cafe Live. Tonight, the elegant hypnotically galvanizing pop of Vita and the Woolf, the endless boogie of Low Cut Connie, the raw and ragged, sweat-saturated, surf-infused, garage rock of The Whips, and the earnest, scene-transporting, songwriting force of Waxahatchee are among those that shape its sonic surroundings. And tomorrow, Palm cultivates an experimental push-pull, hovering between tranquil waves and frenetic, unconventional changes in direction. The melodic, eruptive, dynamic swings of The Districts, the tenacious, cosmic-rocking, riff-combusting charge of Ruby the Hatchet, and the soothing, introspective vulnerability of powerpop trio Hurry are also slated for Saturday. Ruby The Hatchet recently dropped an enchanting, psych-prog pill, entitled Planetary Space Child (Tee Pee Records). Rumbling and ripping through the galaxy at optimum speed, the album ventures into the darkness, maintaining a steadying, tranquil state. The band will be landing at Johnny Brenda’s this Saturday, September 9, supported by Heavy Temple and Meddlesome Meddlesome Meddlesome Bells.

Harsh Vibes conjure a sense of not belonging, while seeking and destroying all in its path. The blend of acid rock, noise and metal is not for the faint of heart with soundscapes enveloping you in a sea of guitar riffs, menacing low-end, and unrelenting drums. Harsh Vibes will be sharing their latest sacrifice to the world, the 12" You Left Me Far Behind, tonight at Johnny Brenda's. Along to test the decibel levels of the room will be metal enthusiasts Ruby The Hatchet and Hound. This evening might be a good night to bring those earplugs that you hate so much. With the exception of a few big shows, stoner metal quintet Ruby The Hatchet have recently been taking somewhat of a break from their usual active performance schedule. However, it’s been for a good reason since they've been hard at work recording their new album, Valley of the Snake, which they've planned on celebrating for the very appropriate date of Friday the 13th. With the day finally here, the band fully intends to pull out all the stops during their release show tonight at Underground Arts.
