Prima's latest single, "SAMBA", is a delicious romp in tortuous tension. The Brooklyn-based band has mastered the art of keeping their cards close to chest, and makes a habit of never revealing any more musical phrases than they need to. Driven by angular guitar leads, primative drum beats, and wild-yet-controlled female vocals, SAMBA is a slow burn that pushes its listeners right up to edge, but never fully loses its cool. Baby Acid is self-described as "grunge-gaze" and it's easy to understand why on a first listen. They blend the fuzzier, harder, heavier elements of grunge with the the reverb-soaked, sound walls and atmospheres of shoegaze to create an entire sonic space.

The newest bare-knuckled single/video combo from Brooklyn-based duo Crushed Out, "Love Howl," delivers blaring, bluesy garage rock reminiscent of powerful bands like Jack White's side project Dead Weather. The track lives up to its name, with vocals yelping their way through fuzzy guitars, and a primal drumbeat. The video is DIY-ish but drips with animal magnetism, pairing the tune with images of mystical, half-human creatures losing themselves to their mating calls. (Why humans don't do mating calls by the way?
