The Indie Rock Year End Poll Results are finally in!

This indie rock quartet graced the cover of our winter 2017 issue of The Deli, and offers catchy and melancholic indie rock that sticks to the soul. They hone a fuzzy, distorted rock sound with folky overtones and production that cleans it up enough to be endlessly listenable.

Overall Poll 2nd Place: Cut Worms

Cut Worms offers 60s pop revival reminiscent of anything from The Beach Boys to Gerry and the Pacemakers. With catchy, simple, and relatable tunes that satisfyingly dabble in the retro, Cut Worms knows how to catch an ear.

Reader Poll Second Place: Baby Acid 

Baby Acid is self-described as "grunge-gaze" and it's easy to understand why on a first listen. They blend the fuzzier, harder, heavier elements of grunge with the the reverb-soaked, sound walls and atmospheres of shoegaze to create an entire sonic space.

Epic-Nerd-Art-Rock is the closest approximation we can find, as far as genres, to describe the music of Bushwick's Not Blood, Paint. With their premier full studio album release "Believing Is Believing" they capture the shock and awe of their dynamic live sets. Join them at Bushwick staple venue House of Yes tomorrow July 8th for the release party. Adding to the festivities will be Idgy Dean, That Handsome Devil and Starwood. - BrokeMc

Nobody in the music scene likes to be called a "veteran" - it implies loss of youth, in a youth obsessed field - but it's undeniable that bands surviving in the Big Apple for 5+ years are rare and should be honored with a title... what about "Pillars of the NYC Scene"? There will be four of them performing at Shea Stadium this Saturday May 7th:  Parlor Tricks, Starlight Girls, Not Blood Paint, and A Deer A Horse (pictured). Check out their latest releases below.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a bird eating a plane and exploding rainbows! It’s Not Blood, Paint! The Brooklyn quartet, conjuring equal parts They Might Be Giants and TOOL, is nearing completion of their newest, most elaborate and bizarre album to date, "Believing is Believing."  To manifest this feat, they have initiated a kickstarter campaign rife with quirky desirables. They also have been churning out mind-bending videos to illustrate just how serious this new album will be. If seeing the videos doesn’t convince you, then you may have to settle for Believing is Believing. NBP plays Mercury Lounge Saturday, November 21. - BrokeMC

Those New Yorkers who find the typical indieshtik a little long in the tooth may want to look into a simple cure called Not Blood Paint. The Brooklyn quartet is not afraid to get their hands dirty with quirkiness of all kinds, alternatively flirting with epic excesses and theatrical set ups. You can find them at their best on a stage, where they integrate their dramatic music with crazy costumes and synchronized moves. You have the opportunity to see them live tonight (03.27) at Cameo.
