CHALAXY Drops Psych Groove Single "Vs. Eros"

Who needs drugs when you've got CHALAXY?
The Nashville psych pop 5-piece have earned a reputation for bringing the party and positive vibes with their energetic, playful and ever-evolving live shows, and their latest single "Vs. Eros" is a glowing reminder that they've got the musical chops to match (and a serious tease for their upcoming album.) Exhibiting their continued growth as a band with more complex dynamics and tasteful experimentation, "Vs. Eros" is a psychedelic swirl of electronic folk rock with a rhythm funky enough to shake a tailfeather to.
Give the trippy single a listen below and get showered with a literal shit-ton of confetti at their release show tomorrow night 12.11 at The East Room with Oh, Grandpa, aave and Soft Bodies. (Get there before 10pm, and it's free!) -Caroline Bowman

Show Alert: Chalaxy and Blackfoot Gypsies at Mercy Lounge 5.30

Got plans this weekend? Cancel them, because you belong at Mercy Lounge this Saturday night. This night consists of a double dose of Deli favorites: tribal noise hipsters Chalaxy are celebrating the release of their moody psychedelic single "Dizzy" and are premiering a newly revamped live set. Joining the night are Nashville standbys Blackfoot Gypsies, who have their own big excitements from a recent record deal with Plowboy Records and a new video for "Under my Skin" to boot (check it out below.) We're stoked to see these two merry bands of hustlers in one night, and are equally excited to catch Matt Owen & Eclectic Tuba and Levi Ray for the first time. Saturday's show kicks off at 9pm and will only set you back $5. -Terra James-Jura
Show Alert: Friendship at The East Room 10.11

If there were a spirit animal for October 11th, it would have to be some sort of neon-colored panda riding a cigar-smoking dolphin, because thinking of that trips us out and makes us happy in the same way catching a Chalaxy show does. However, this Saturday's show at the East Room is one better than those tape-crazy psych-rockers: Friendship is a 9-piece supergroup conceived and executed by Chalaxy frontman Taylor Cole. With members from The Subnovas, Mesmer Tea, Girls and Money, Creature Comfort and Dotcom, it's a riot of talent that will be squinting in the stagelights as a collective for the first time this weekend. Considering that Friendship is so new and barely-formed, we can't even be sure of what they are going to sound like, but we have faith that the evening will be entertaining and include some left-of-center leanings. Also, since Friendship is only in its budding stages, we leave you with this video from Knoxville's "Trop 'N' Roll" outfit Marina Orchestra, who will be supporting the evening of the strange and wonderful along with Dr. Jungle Cat and Girls and Money. -Terra James-Jura
