Eagle Tavern, a small bar located in SoMa, will be hosting its weekly show series, Thursday Nite Live! TONIGHT. This week's bill includes three acts that are shaking up the Bay Area music scene in very different, but eminent ways. Ash Reiter, a classic bubblegum pop music incarnate, plays San Francisco flower pop rock with a twist. Their music will inevitably get you swaying to the melody, humming to the choruses and bobbing your head to the beat. The Visibles bring together a hint of folk with a blend of psych-rock, which is a great combination that is not too intense and not too pop sounding. The Electric Magpie, originating from the North Bay, has come to be quintessential to the Bay Area psych-rock music scene since the release of their successful single, “What’s For Tea?,” and signing to Lolipop Records. Their sound is trippy and exudes 60s instrumentation, delayed and reverbed vocals and a nice addition of punk influences on top of it all. Psychic Jiu Jitsu brings back jam-like psych rock instrumentation that goes beyond cliché jam bands. A mix of distorted guitars, eerie and heavily reverbed vocals and crashing cymbals create a vicious, mind-charging atmosphere.

Local Bay Area lady, Ash Reiter and her band are taking their decidedly Californian, dreamy pop music on tour. The track I've Got Something I Can Laugh About, from their late 2012 album Hola, exemplifies the snappy melodies and retro 60s tones that characterize the group. The stylized instrumentals combined with Reiter's wholesome vocals make for upbeat, good clean fun. She does, however, sneak in the occasional sly remark to spice things up. Ash Reiter plays Disco Volante in Oakland this Wednesday, March 6th, along with David Glasebrook of Santa Cruz Americana outfit Deep Ellum and Portland's Wild Ones. After their local show Ash Reiter and her band will play an extensive tour with their label mates, Li Xi and Couches. 20 Sided Records is sending these talented San Francisco bands all over the US. We've tallied the results for the Open Submissions stage of our SF Bay Area Year End Poll. All of the submissions were ranked by Deli Editors from other scenes, and the list of acts that have advanced to our Readers’/Fans’ Poll phase are below. We will also be releasing the list of nominees chosen by our local "scene expert" jurors very soon. 

Ash Reiter’s sweet dream pop couldn’t come from anywhere other than coastal California. The band recently rolled out its sophomore album, Hola—a feast of baroque, honey-crooned hits. Just in time for their album tour homecoming, our Deli jury voted them number one in our SF Year End Poll's Open Submissions with an impressive average rating of 8.5.

For just a few days, Ash Reiter is offering their song “Little Sandy” for free download.

The song grooves like a Vampire Weekend hit with a kaleidoscope of synth sounds, and it's definitely more tropical than it is tempestuous; apropos to a hurricane nonetheless?
